Pollok Park - White Cart Water - Glasgow

Updated: Jun 22, 2022

Contractor: RJ McLeod

Client: Glasgow City Council

Date: 2018

GeoGrow Ltd provided a reinforced bank & slope design as part of the White Cart Water FAS for Jacobs and Glasgow CC to replace a failing riverbank and six-metre-high slope which had eroded overtime threatening the road above and the riverbank below of possible collapse.

The Rootlok system was chosen as a vegetated facing to an engineered retaining wall and reinforced slope to provide immediate erosion protection and deliver a more natural finish that would vegetate and blend seamlessly into the adjoining riverbanks.

After establishing a dry working area, a deep trench was dug and a compacted stone base was established enabling several Rootlok bags to be installed below the riverbed to a create a strong foundation to the 2M + high near vertical geogrid reinforced retaining wall, which is permanently below water, for extra factors of safety & scour protection staked rock rolls were installed in front of the wall.
